How Much Does Getting Wisdom Teeth Removed Cost?

396545381 And how much does insurance typically pay? I've already met with an oral surgeon whom said my wisdom teeth don't have much room to grow in and he suggested getting them removed, now its just a matter of coming up with the money and making an appointment to get them removed.
Unfortunately im in the USA

  1. Alan - If you are in the UK, the cost would be around £35 on the NHS or nothing if you claim benefits. Privately, it will cost a fortune. You may even need to go to a hospital to have them removed. Some people need to do that, and the cost is even higher.

  2. Lisa - Depends on if they have erupt or not? cost more when they are impacted still under tissue. and call your insurance company depends on your plan? oral surgeon could charge 300 or more a tooth. That's if it is above the tissue

  3. arnie g - Just a heads up,you may not want them to give you a drug called Versed

In fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.

Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort. However, that does not mean that those sensations will not be experienced.

  4. tawni - mine cost around $450 per tooth and then if i wanted to be put to sleep or have an IV, it was going to cost $550 extra. i decided to stay awake which was perfectly fine, so i ended up paying around $1800 for all 4 wisdom teeth

how much insurance pays depends on your coverage. i think mine covered around half.

here's a video of my experience if you're interested :) hope it helps!
