  1. Nana Lamb - jails and prisons consider if the glucose level is around 300 that is just fine. No they don't get it down any finer than that, so your brother could conceivably die while in prison this time. Or at the very least be severely damaged when he gets out.

He should not have been doing whatever it was he was doing and gotten caught doing it if he didn't want back in prison!! He has to pay the price society demands for his actions. or for being with the people he was with. We are all judged by the company we keep.

So sorry he is going to get so sick before he can get out and get help. We will pray for him.

  2. Gary B - Have his doctor contact the jail, and deliver explicit instructions on how the insulin is to be delivered. his doctor COULD make arrangement to have someone visit the jail once a week or so to give him "mini" medical checkups -- but YOU have to pay for it.

Your brother is SUPPOSED to be miserable in there. That's why it is a JAIL!!! The idea is that if he really doesn't like being uncomfortable, he will straighten up his life and learn to AVOID going to jail.

  3. Felex Fff - I was in jail for 2 weeks, one of the officers decided to play a game with me. She told me the medication cart would be down at 4:30. From 4:30 until 6 I asked her where they were and she said "I'll call you" dinner was served at 5. I ate it. The last time I asked her she said "I called you at 4:30" I asked her to call the nurse because I will be very sick by morning. She acted like she called and the nurse said "wait until the morning" I was in DKA by 7am and was taken to ICU for 3 days all at the expense of tax payers (about $30,000) The best he can do is be friendly with the nurse and the guards and hope they give a damn. I was in jail for suspected DUI, I was hypoglycemic. I had just moved to the area and all my numbers are in my phone, I couldn't remember any. You have to remember 1..........
