I am getting retainer impression with my brace on and they will get my brace off once it is ready. I do have lab at my orthodontist. Why do they want to put mold on brace instead of taking the brace off then put the mold on it?
Jeannie - Because they want to put the retainer in your mouth the very same day they take the braces off. They cannot do that unless they take the mold while the braces are still on. It takes several days to make a retainer.

Kristen - To have it ready for you immediately when you get your braces taken off. The retainer takes awhile to make.
