Today My wife had gone for OGTT and results came surprising to me. Fasting Sugar was good . It was 85. After taking 100gm Glucose, after one the reading came 57, after 2nd hour the reading came 113 and after 3rd hour of glucose taking the result came 56. She is not pregnant but doctor had prescribed this. I am surprise as after taking glucose it should go up but went down and again up and down. Mr. Peachy® - First of all, it's unnatural for the body to have pure glucose introduced into the system like that. So, her first response was to produce an excessive amount of insulin which brought the sugar level down too low. Second, when the body senses low blood sugar, it produces cortisol which signals the liver to convert stored glycogen back into glucose and introduce it into the blood stream. When the body overcompensates like that, it can be indicative of borderline diabetes. It's not unusual to go on this kind of roller coaster ride in the beginning.
