Doesn't matter when (before or after breakfast). And, if you have hypertension, you should also be doing lifestyle changes - daily exercise, weight loss, no smoking, in order to help control the hypertension.

  2. Procastinator - All depends on the kind of medication you take. As stated above most people take it right when they get up (or with the breakfast if you get problems with your stomach if you take them before). Also if you have a cevere case of hypertension you might have to take your meds twice a day.

The doctor who prescribed it to you probably told you when to take it and how many.

  3. Nana Lamb - You need to read the information that comes with your Rx! Mine has a big black box on it and a label on the bottle both saying to "Take this medicine at NIGHT"

I do not think the previous medications for hypertension I had said anything about when to take it. If yours doesn't have any instructions such as mine has, then take it at the same time every day, that is easy for you to remember.

  4. McGee - NEVER.

Unfortunately, your doctor has prescribed them, and I can't tell you to stop taking them. However, you know that you'll be taking them for the rest of your life...?

You can change that and lower your blood pressure naturally so you won't need medication. Your doctor doesn't know this (hence the medication) but high blood pressure is a symptom of chronic dehydration - your only problem is you're thirsty.

Click the first two links below and read some interesting facts that even your doctor doesn't know about water and salt. Then click the second link and follow the instructions on how to use water and salt to correct your dehydration. This will lower your blood pressure naturally You should see positive results within a few days.

You should stay on the medication until your doctor takes you off of it.
