My Dad Refuses To Lose Weight/ Go To The Doctor? Help?

396545382 Alright, so my dad is pretty much obese. He's like 60-70 pounds overweight, and looks disgusting. His fat isn't like blubbery, it just looks like he has a beach ball in his shirt. He won't go to the doctors because he says all theyll do istell him he's fat. He eats huge bags of chips( the bags they sell at wholesale store) singlehandlessly. He can't really exercise because his job is an office, he has gout in both of his feet, and has bone spurs on his heels near his aklillis tendon. He gets out of breathe easily and takes ibeprophen every day to make it through the day because he gets so tired. PLEASE HELP ME. he doesn't listen to my mom and gets mad when we suggest better things to eat.

False. He can exercise outside of work.

"He won't go to the doctors because he says all theyll do istell him he's fat".

He's not accepting that he is fat. OF COURSE the doctors would say that. He's fat! It's a true statement.

He's not going to change unless he wants to change. Don't let it affect your own personal choices. If you can help him, then that's great. "Forks Over Knives" is a decent documentary about plant-based diets and avoiding processed foods. The best thing he can do is control calories, improve nutrition, and gradually introduce exercise. Some medical problems can be reduced or reversed by eliminating poor foods and introducing a plant-based diet. Fish is good. Choose veg, fruit, nuts, whole grains and some fish instead of meat and processed food, and he might have a chance at improving his health. Otherwise, he is doomed. Absolutely doomed.

We all die, it's just a matter of time. But quality of life is within our control. He has choices and he has potential to change, even in his current state. You can't change some one's mind, you can only try to influence them and hope that they change sooner than later. If he starts now, he can change his health. But it's going to require him to REALLY want to. And to realize that he is hurting you guys.
