If I Am Allergic To Cats, Does That Mean That I Am Allergic To A Samoyed Dog?

396545383 I was thinking od getting a samoyed dog. I am allergic to cats because of they have a lot of dander. So does that mean I will be allergic to a samoyed?

  1. Leo Nelson - I would not imagine so, there is a chance that you could be allergic to them but cats and dogs have two very close but separate dander. I have a friend who is super allergic to cats so I am constantly bombarding him with felines when he comes over but he never has a reaction to my Bulldog who unfortunately has a lot of a dander

  2. HappyGirl - Most likely you would not be allergic. My husband is allergic to cats and is not allergic to our Samoyed. Samoyeds do not produce dander which is why they do not have a doggie smell that most dogs have. Besides, that they are awesome pet, very sweet, loving and loyal. Mine is such a sweet heart. I am adding a link to the breeder I got mine from. They produce quality dogs and are very reputable. I would not use a substandard breeder. You can get a dog with bad genetics or other problems. Good Luck and I hope you get a Samoyed :)
