I Don't Understand This About The Heart Pumping Faster But Pumping Less Blood?

396545385 because it doesn't have time to fill up, but when you exercise your body needs more oxygenated blood to the muscles therefor the heart has to beat faster but at the same time is it still pumping less blood

  1. Luke Skywalker - Jess, you're not alone. Most doctors don't understand this, but it's really quite simple.

When the heart beats faster, usually it also pumps out a greater stroke volume, but sometimes, because of the reduced filling-time available, it may pump less blood per stroke.

But if it beats many more times every minute, then that more than compensates for the reduced stroke-volume and it pumps out more blood per minute. So a heart beating 70 times a minute can pump out say 70 x 70 ccs of blood per minute. That's 4900 ccs/min

But a heart beating 100 times per minute, but pumping only 65ccs per stroke, will deliver 100 x 6500 ccs/minute. That is 6500 ccs/minute.
