Dad had his surgery 8 days ago, but hasn't been released from the hospital because his heart starts beating @ 150 beats per minute. His other vital signs seem good, but we would love to know what is going on with his pulse, and is there anything that can be done about it. I'm very worried about him....
Jim - digoxin
ReplyDeleteHuman - Hi Vic - I am sorry to note that your dad is in not well. However, I am happy that he is in good hands. The treatment team will need to find out the cause of the tachycardia. A tachycardia is a heart rate of greater than 100 beats per minute. They will then have a number of options. Digoxin, verapamil or other beta blockers may be used. It is a treatable condition. I trust he will get better soon. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteThis is not unusual for a patient with triple bypass surgery.
