  1. Jordan - I got mine out yesterday.... Lol I go there at 10 and then at 11 they called me in for a consolation (where they tell you ALL (and I do mean all) the bad stuff. I was shaking after that. Then you go back into the waiting room and wait till they call your name again. When they call you the second time that is when you get your surgery. You go in and don't wear a pull over! They make you take it off and its freezing in there. It hurt getting the iv in but I'm terrified of needles. While I was in there I joked around with them a bit, just about how cold the room was! man was that freezing! Then once the iv was all set up he said something along the lines of are you ready for a siesta? Then you feel a bit of tingling in your arm and your asleep... They give you a shot of pure oxygen and wake you up once it's done. Then you lie down while they check something I don't know what. When you wake up your mouth is numb and your tongue feels like a balloon lol ...(oh ya you wake up on a bed, and I got the nice chance to wake up to a cute guy in the bed beside me) Then you go with like 4-5 other people and they tell you how to take care of your mouth. While they are doing that they take out the iv make you drink some ginger-ale and a pain med. Then they tie this thing to your face that has two ice packs. BEST THING EVER! It looks so stupid but it got rid of lots of the swelling in my face. My mouth was numb up into about nine this morning. Then entire procedure took all of like 50 minutes. Also try your best to pay attention when you wake up because they say some solid info you'll need. Don't eat anything hard until like 5 days after, or they call and say its okay. When you get it done don't eat the first day, the second day eat a little and drink LOTS! Take your pain meds on time to they help a lot. Wash out your mouth frequently with water (and a fancy think they give you) and a prescription mouth wash. Just follow the after care instructions and you won't feel any or little pain. Oh ya dry socket.... Its where the blood clot becomes dislodged and you have to go back.... you'll feel intense pain and not even pain killers help. Thats because a nerve is exposed. So do your best to follow instructions not to get that!

  2. arnie g - Just a heads up you may not want them to use a drug called Versed.

In fact, many people who use Versed for "conscious sedation" during a procedure are awake for the entire procedure but remember nothing, often believing they were "out" the whole time.

Versed (Midazolam) is an amnestic. It is commonly administered in combination with anesthesia before and during surgery. It is also commonly used for minor procedures like colonoscopies dental procedures like extractions, conscience sedation so that patients won't remember pain and discomfort. However, that does not mean that those sensations will not be experienced.

My wife had her broken bone(Femur)set in the emergency room just before surgery to repair it. They gave her versed and I waited outside of the room and could hear her screaming in pain, they did not appear to be concerned as they told me she would not remember anything and she did not. BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN AND THAT SHE DID NOT SUFFER
