Why Did I Break Out More Of A Sweat Dancing ?

396545382 I danced to two janet songs
It seemed like more of a workout than when I run

  1. *Blush* - Running is pretty rythmic and steady, dancing can be faster and harder exercise than running. You may also have been paying less attention to things like breathing

  2. Aviation747 - To "run", we don't typically do an all-out sprint, because chances are even the most fit individuals can't go at/near 100% speed for very long. Thus, we do sort of a slower jog, maybe at a speed of 5 - 5.5 (walking is typically around 3.5), because we can do it for, say, a half hour straight (or however long your exercise period is).

Dancing is more total-body activity, and can be much harder than running depending on your effort. For me, personally, my heart rate is about 155 (~60% of my max) when running, but around 170 when dancing (~75-80% of my max) (I have a wrist watch that doubles as a heart rate & calorie burn monitor). Then again, I really push it when dancing. Not that I don't push myself when running, but, like I said, it's more rhythmic and tends to be at a steady speed that is not your maximum speed.

    Good luck! =)
