  1. Gary B - fasting is NOT necessary before an A1C test. This is why the A1C test is SO accurate.

    However, the doctor MIGHT be performing OTHER test which require fasting.

  2. TweetyBird - Questions about HbA1c's don't belong in Heart Diseases. This test is generally done alone. It cannot be run concurrently with an FBS but can be run concurrently with a random BS but what would be the point of that? The HbA1c test result represents an average for the previous 1-3 months of your free blood glucose level therefore fasting could skew results.
