Reasons For Rapid Weight Loss In Adults?

396545382 Hi just wondering if anyone has some ideas as to why an adult male who has no change in diet would suddenly go from 11 stone to 9 & a half stone, he has lost this weight in a short space of time, he recently had a skin infection which was mrsa so because of that he had lots of blood tests to rule any other illness's out he was testes for diabetes & h.i.v but was both negative so what other things could cause this weight loss, the weight loss occured after the blood tests and we're trying to get another appointment x

  1. Don Darkeau - Could be a thyroid problem. When a thyroid goes hyper, you can lose weight like that. A specific thyroid hormone test would be required to test this possibility.

  2. Jenny - There are lots of reasons but provided he doesn't feel as though something is badly wrong (most of us can sense when we are really ill) and drinks plenty of water, all should be well.

    Good luck!

  3. Chinedu - There are many possible causes such as malignant cancers, gastrointestinal disorders, renal failures, heart problems, nuerological disorders, infection, stress and adverse drug effects. Hope it was worth 10 points and a simple thank u?
