396545116 the last couple of months my poo has changed colour and shape.. It used to be a healthy log that required only a slight strain to eject.. Now its become softer and breaks up on release.. its a kind of clay orange.. I'm worried I've go bowel cancer! I'm also feeling quite sick and sleepy all the time :(

  1. Brian - It's possible. But it could be alot of things. Could just be an infection, or colitis or crohns. I would go to a doc to check it out. Colitis and crohns will get worse the longer you wait.

  2. Get Cameron out - It is possible but unlikely. Ask your doctor to send you for a colonoscopy.

It sounds more likely, if you also get sickness and abdominal pain, that you have gallstones, that a stone is blocking a duct. The pale stools would be a result of bilirubin staying in the body, rather than passing through in the usual way.

  4. Cancer Research UK - Hello.

It is possible to develop bowel cancer at any age, but it is very rare in young people. Most people who develop bowel cancer are over 50 and 86% (86 out of every 100) people who develop the disease are aged 60 or older. So it is far more likely that your symptoms are due to a benign (non cancerous) condition.

But just to be on the safe side it would be a good idea to get a check up from your GP. So if you have not already done so do make an appointment and this is likely to be the best way of sorting out your concerns.
