I Have A Cavity And It Hurts?

396545381 Should a cavity hurt? I told my dentist that it didn't hurt and he said if it did I would need a root cannal (I think that's how I spell it). I don't know if this procedure hurts, and if it does can it get numbed?
I forgot to tell you that it only hurts when I eat something very sweet.

  1. maddlove2 - It is possible you will need a RCT (root canal treatment) and if you do it is comfortable...you will be numb and will not be in pain! You do want to have this fixed sooner than later because it is a matter of time before you are in major pain and it will then be a unbearable pain and possibly swell up! That is no fun! However it is possible that since it is not hot and cold sensitive at this point it will just need a Composite filling (not a silver filling yuck) and tooth may be at a point were it would be fine with out a RCT! but the longer you wait the more chance you will have of needing the expensive RCT compared to a relativly inexpensive Composite! Hope this helps!
