  1. Tabea - You need 10-15g of quick-acting carb to correct a hypo. It varies from person to person and also how low you were to begin with. The base rule is 15+15, i.e., 15g carb then wait 15 minutes and check blood sugar again. Once you know how your body reacts, you can adjust. For example, for me, it only takes 10g carb to correct a hypo.

  2. Noccie - Depends on how low you were. Keep testing every 15-20 minutes to see if your numbers are going back up to normal.
It is VERY important for a person with type 1 diabetes to understand how to treat a hypo, if you don't know then you have to discuss it with your endocrinologist.

  3. Felex Fff - Not even close to enough. Hypoglycemia is not understood by people until they see it a few times. and then they wonder how you let it happen.pos. I don't know how old you are but don't let it happen at work. You may get fired, and the EEOC will do nothing. Keep some sort of juice with you and drink it as soon as you feel it, don't even test, it happens so fast by the time you test you're already to confused to know what to do. I had juice boxes 20g of carbs and fast. The problem is if you are really low you have trouble getting the straw open and in so keep some higher carb tablets with you they come 5g per tablet
