Angioplasy And A Stent Fitted?

396545385 I have recently had an ANGIOPLASY with a stent fitted . I am thinking of having a holdiay in the sun which we means flying . Any problem with this thanks

  1. Morningstar - You are now healthier than you were before the stent was placed. Before, you were in danger of having a full-blown heart attack related to the blockage in the coronary artery that is now open. Any questions about your heart should always be addressed to your cardiologist.

  2. dorothy s - Some stents are made from metal, check this with your specialist and ask him to supply a letter. There will be no actual problem with flying, however if you are scanned at the airport and your stent is metal it will create problem, that's why you need a letter from the specialist.

    Make sure that you wear those surgical type of stockings and get up regularly from your seat.

  3. Mangal B - Post-angioplasty and stent pose no problem as such, if you are otherwise health wise fit to fly.
    But it is always advisable to consult your doctor for the precautions to be taken during the trip. Good luck.
