After A Stroke Causing Insulin Surges, I Am Pre Diabetic.. Is It Caused By The Stroke, What Do I Do!?

396545384 My most noticeable problem is that I cannot loose weight,and I am trying so hard! I am not overweight, but since the stroke I have been trying to get the weight down. My bmi is 25.

  1. Gary B - You HAVE to eat less and exercise more.

    When you use insulin, not only does it help your CELLS use sugar, but it ALSO helps your body STORE sugar -- as fat. So, insulin use makes you gain weight. But if you stop using insulin, you body will be ruined and you will die slowly and painfully.

    Your ONLY solution is smaller portion sizes and more exercise.

    The good news is that Traumatic Diabetes (which is what you have) SHOULD go away as you recover from the stroke. but as you should know, stroke recovery is a SLOW process. So count on insulin use for another3-5 years.
